TRANCOLON Tablets 7.5mg - irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) “Astellas”

irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

This disease is most likely to occur when you have abdominal pain or discomfort, and related bowel abnormalities such as constipation or diarrhea (abnormal bowel movements or stool shape) that persist for several months or more.

Contents

Gastrointestinal motility is increased by commands from the parasympathetic nervous system. This medicine has the effect of weakening parasympathetic nerve stimulation (anticholinergic effect). As a result, gastrointestinal motility is suppressed, and abdominal pain and diarrhea symptoms associated with irritable bowel disease are improved.

However, irritable bowel disease itself cannot be cured. It is a symptomatic drug that suppresses symptoms.

Efficacy

This medicine acts on the enteric nerves and controls abnormal intestinal movements.

It is usually used to improve symptoms of irritable colon, including abdominal pain, repeated diarrhea and constipation, etc.

Usage

The usual adult dose of mepenzolate bromide is 15 mg (2 tablets) taken orally three times a day. The dosage may be increased or decreased as appropriate depending on age and symptoms.
