Ursodeoxycholic Acid [NIG] promotes the secretion of bile, thereby improving bile flow and enhancing liver function as well as the digestive function of the small intestine. It also works to dissolve cholesterol-based gallstones.
 
Efficacy
It is generally used for the treatment of biliary tract disorders and liver diseases caused by impaired bile flow, for improving digestion in cases of small bowel resection or inflammatory bowel disease, for dissolving cholesterol-based gallstones, and for improving liver function in chronic liver diseases, including primary biliary cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis C.
 

Usage
Treatment of biliary tract and liver diseases, and improvement of liver function and indigestion:
The usual adult dosage is 1 tablet (containing 50 mg of the active ingredient) taken three times daily.
Dissolution of gallstones:
The usual adult dosage is 4 tablets (containing 200 mg of the active ingredient) taken three times daily.
Improvement of liver function in primary biliary cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis C:
The usual adult dosage is 4 tablets (containing 200 mg of the active ingredient) taken three times daily.
The dosage may be increased up to a maximum of 18 tablets (900 mg) per day.
 
In all cases, the dosage may be adjusted according to the patient's age and symptoms.
Please follow the prescribed dosage instructions carefully.
 
 
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take only the next dose as directed.
 Do not take two doses at once to make up for a missed dose.
If you accidentally take more than the prescribed amount, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
Do not stop taking this medication without your doctor's instructions.

＜Warning＞
You have experienced allergic reactions such as itching or rash due to medications or food in the past.
You have complete biliary obstruction or fulminant hepatitis.
You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
You are currently taking other medications. (Please note that interactions may occur, which can enhance or reduce the effects of each substance. Be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other prescription or over-the-counter medicines, as well as any dietary supplements or food products you are using.)
 
The main reported side effects include diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite, constipation, heartburn, stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, itching, rash, abdominal bloating, general fatigue, and dizziness.
If you notice any of these symptoms, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.
 
In rare cases, the following symptoms may occur and could be early signs of the adverse reactions listed in brackets.
 If you experience any of these symptoms, stop using the medication immediately and seek medical attention.
Fever, dry cough, difficulty breathing  [Interstitial pneumonia]
